Will listen to more Salami for sure. I also heard A Man without Warning which is excellent. Got back into Kendrick for now though (relistened to TPAB and I think I like it a bit better than GKMC)

Man LA Salami is incredible, I think Loosely on My Mind might be my favorite ballad by a singer songwriter, alongside Famous Blue Raincoat

It's gonna be a beautiful night is pretty wonderful, and a funk song to its very core (which seems is in contrast to the absolute best of Prince (i.e. Crystal Ball being more avant garden or Adore being more of a soulful love song etc)). I mainly love it because of how it plays around with its initial sound (specifically the "oh wee oh" thing) and transforms it into something epic by its end.

Ya, Prince is approaching Brian's genius, but the problem is Brian's genius, in large part, never came to fruition. We both know the history, and it's a tragedy, but I feel comfortable in saying Prince is the best I've heard.

Oh also what are your thoughts on It's Gonna Be a Beautiul night? I think it might be my favorite from Sign, after relistening to it a few more times. OK maybe Adore is a bit better.... or maybe not idk.

Been listening to Crystal Ball, what a song! Rain is probably still my favorite only for its incredible emotional value, but as far as what is the BEST representation of Prince's greatness it's without peer. I'm thinking Sign is moving to my favorite album (would absolutely be number one with Crystal Ball on it); Prince is so damn incredible.

I haven't listened to crystal ball, but I will pretty soon. Ya When Doves Cry is really good but I've heard it enough times on the radio for it to not feel that spectacular. It's just not a favorite and I don't find myself having the urge to listen to it often like I do with almost literally every track on Sign, except Hot Thing and Slow Love.

I first fell in love with purple rain when I watched Prince perform at the Super Bowl when I was little. My God it was incredible, it started to rain just as he began playing Purple Rain! The clip's on YouTube, idk if you've seen it or not

Never really heard of Under the Cherry Moon, I'll definitely make note of it. I'm listening to Purple Rain right now just because it's "essential" and it's good, but other than the title track the tracks range from average to just good, nothing on it (except the title track obviously) can even rival the lesser songs on Sign. Around the World in a Day is my next stop for sure. And I'll definitely listen to his unreleased stuff. My main goal here though is to not turn it into a chore; it's been a while since I've so thoroughly loved and had fun with a record as I have with Sign, and Pirple Rain is has long been a favorite, and a closer listen makes me consider it as maybe my favorite song ever. So basically I just want to have a lot of fun without "exploring his discography". The thing I love most about Prince is that his music is great in literally any setting, and I don't want anything to ruin this. He seriously has potential to be my favorite artist

Kinda random recommendation but https://youtu.be/VuEVdkW-zDc Thoufhts on this? I think this is my favorite song of the past year (only ones coming close would be Humble or DNA) Fuck XO tbh
